The story behind calling Tuesday of Jyeshtha month as Budhwa Mangal is related to Mahabharata. According to the story of Mahabharata, Bhima was very powerful. He had a force of ten thousand elephants. He was very proud of his physical strength. During the period of exile, when Bhima was in the forest with his brothers, a flower flew near Draupadi. Draupadi liked that flower and its fragrance very much.
After this, Draupadi sent Bhima in that direction to bring similar flowers. Bhima had just walked in the forest for some time when his eyes fell on the tail of a monkey lying on the road. Then Bhima asked the monkey to remove his tail. The monkey said that he was very old and weak, so he could not remove his tail. He himself should remove their tail and put it aside. Then Bhima tried his best to lift that tail, but it did not even move.

After this Bhima apologized to that monkey. Then Hanuman ji, sitting in the form of a monkey, appeared in his real form and gave him darshan. According to Hindu belief, Hanuman ji and Bhima met on Tuesday of Jyeshtha month. Since then, Mars falling in this month started being called Budhwa Mars.
