56 residential plots attached, price is Rs 6 crore… ED’s big action in BEO scam

The team of Enforcement Directorate has taken major action in the case of embezzlement of government funds worth Rs 20.47 crore in Katthiwada Block Education Office (BEO) of Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh. ED has temporarily attached 56 residential plots located in Dhar district. The market price of these plots is said to be more than Rs 6 crore. This action has been taken under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

ED had started the investigation on the basis of FIR registered in Katthiwada police station, District Alirajpur. Investigation revealed that between 2018 and 2023, government money worth Rs 20.47 crore was illegally withdrawn from the treasury through fake bills from the Block Education Office, Katthiwada. ED’s investigation revealed that the main accused Kamal Rathore along with other accused embezzled government funds.

Embezzled amount transferred to various bank accounts

Also, the embezzled amount was transferred to various bank accounts controlled by him and his family members, later the cash was withdrawn and agricultural land was purchased from it in Gandhwani area of ​​Dhar district. According to ED, the investigation of the case is still going on and further action can be taken against illegally acquired properties.

Land purchased with money earned from crime

The investigation also revealed that the agricultural land purchased with the money earned from crime was later developed into residential plots under a project named Shri Balaji Dham. Its objective was to hide the real origin of illegal property and show it as legitimate property. 56 plots of this project, whose value is more than Rs 6 crore, have now been attached by the ED.

Kamal arrested on money laundering charges

Earlier, during the raid in this case, ED had seized many important documents and had frozen some bank accounts. During the investigation, the main accused Kamal Rathore was also arrested on charges of money laundering.

Even before, properties worth Rs 4.43 crore were attached.

Earlier, ED had also attached properties worth Rs 4.43 crore of the accused, which was confirmed on March 10, 2026. At the same time, on 29 September 2025, a prosecution complaint has also been filed against Kamal Rathore and other accused in the special PMLA court, Indore.
