The prices of commercial and small cylinders have been increased again in the country. Today the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder has been increased by Rs 42 and that of small cylinder by Rs 11. In such a situation, Congress has once again targeted the BJP government regarding the increased prices. In a post on social media, Congress said that ‘Inflation Man’ Modi has also made the 5 kg small LPG cylinder expensive.
In the last one month, Chhotu LPG cylinder has become costlier by ₹ 272. Congress said in the post that an increase of ₹11 has been made on 1st June, ₹261 on 1st May, total: ₹272. Congress said that first the ‘Inflation Man’ asked the public to buy small cylinders and then started extortion.

Where will the impact be?
From June 1, the 19 kg large commercial LPG cylinder used in hotels and restaurants has become expensive. Due to this increase, the expenses of hotels, restaurants and shops will increase, due to which eating out may become expensive. There has been no change in the prices of common small cylinders used in the kitchen, that is, the prices of domestic cylinders will remain the same as before.
This latest change has come after the government’s assurance that sufficient stock of petroleum products is available and there is no shortage of LPG, petrol or diesel in the country. At an inter-ministerial briefing on Friday, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said the government is working on strengthening energy security through strategic reserves and better inventory management. He said that OMCs have been advised to maintain a reserve of LPG equal to at least 30 days of consumption. Efforts are also underway to strengthen crude oil reserves.
