According to PTI report, this special saree was made by ‘Kalaratna’ award winning handloom weaver Nalla Vijay Kumar.Nalla Vijay Kumar) has created. He told that he along with his family has woven this unique saree on a traditional handloom after about a week of hard work. Vijay Kumar has given full credit for making this beautiful saree to the immense grace of Mother Goddess.
What is special about this ‘magical’ saree?
This saree is completely standard size, measuring 5.5 meters in length and 48 inches in width. Despite being full length, the weight of this silk saree is only 200 grams. It is decorated with traditional ‘ikat’ (Ikkat) The pattern is beautifully designed. Its weave is so fine and excellent that when folded, this saree easily fits in a small matchbox.
Temple Trust welcomed and respected
Nalla Vijay Kumar donated this unique saree to Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple Trust Board (Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple Trust Board) in the presence of Chairman Pothugunta Ramesh Naidu and Board of Trustees member Kode Kanthivardhini. Accepting this wonderful gift, temple president Ramesh Naidu praised the weaver’s art.
He said that handloom weaving is not just a profession but a great and glorious art of our country that has been practiced for generations. He appealed to everyone to promote the weavers and handloom products of the country. As a gift, the temple administration made arrangements for a special darshan of this talented weaver and his team.
