The life of 25-year-old Wang Junming, living in Hunan province of China, has become a topic of discussion on social media these days. His story has shocked and emotionalized millions of people. Wang may be 25 years old, but his physical development remains that of a small child. His height is only 66 centimeters and mentally he behaves like a small child.
Family members lovingly call her ‘Baby’. This name reflects both their personality and status. Like ordinary youth, they do not have to worry about studies, job or future. His life is quite normal. He stays with his family throughout the day and often goes to sleep before 8 pm. Although some signs of aging are visible on his face, such as wrinkles and lines under the eyes, his small body and child-like actions surprise people.

After increasing discussion on social media, some people helped in connecting the family with specialist doctors. After this, a detailed medical examination of Wang was done in February this year. Doctors discovered that he was suffering from a rare disease called pituitary hormone deficiency. In this disease, the pituitary gland of the brain is not able to produce essential hormones in sufficient quantity, due to which the development, growth and metabolism of the body gets affected.
Experts say that this problem is usually identified in childhood itself. If treatment starts on time, most children can develop normally. But this did not happen in Wang’s case. His parents had tried to get him treated in his childhood. They took him to doctors several times and were given medicines, but due to financial difficulties the treatment could not continue for long.
His father worked as a laborer to run the family and his income was limited. On the other hand, his mother believed that all this was a gift of fate and she herself would continue to take care of her son. In a recent test, doctors also found abnormalities related to a gene called POU1F1 in Wang’s body. This gene plays an important role in the growth and development of the body. According to doctors, the number of such cases worldwide is very less.
With this hope, Wang is now undergoing regular hormone treatment. However, doctors say that it is still difficult to estimate how much benefit they will get. Still, there is a possibility that their mental abilities may improve and they may learn to walk on their own in the future.
