There was firing outside the White House in the US capital Washington DC on Saturday evening. A 21 year old youth started firing near the White House. After this, American Secret Service agents retaliated and shot the young man. He was taken to the hospital, but he died. US President Donald Trump was present inside the White House at the time of the incident.
Trump praised the security agencies on social media. Trump also said that the attacker had a violent history and may have been obsessed with the White House. Court documents of 2025 also confirm Trump’s statement. In fact, in June and July 2025, he was seen roaming around the White House several times and kept asking how to enter through different gates. Court records revealed that he was already under the surveillance of the Secret Service.
Tried to forcibly enter the White House
According to documents received from the court, on June 26, 2025, he obstructed the movement of vehicles in the White House Complex. After this, on July 10, he was arrested for entering the restricted area outside the White House. The authorities had warned him several times, but he ignored the warnings. Documents say that Best called himself Jesus. He also said that he wanted to be arrested.
During the hearing in the court, the judge had issued a stay away order against him. That means he was not allowed to go near the White House area. He did not appear in the court on the next hearing, after which a warrant was issued against him. A police officer said that Best was a mentally disturbed person, the police and security agencies were already aware of this. Now the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Secret Service and local police are jointly investigating this case.
How did you kill Best?
According to the Secret Service, Best reached the checkpoint at the gate located at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW near the White House. There he took out a pistol from his bag and started shooting. The agents immediately returned fire and the attacker was shot. A passerby was also injured in this firing. However, it is not yet clear whether he was shot by the attacker or got injured in the retaliatory firing by the agents. It is a matter of relief that no Secret Service agent was injured in this incident.
