20 rebel MPs of Trinamool Congress met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday evening and submitted a letter regarding merger with the National Citizens Party. The rebel MPs urged the Speaker to make arrangements to sit separately from the Trinamool Congress MPs in the Lok Sabha. Along with this, the rebel MPs announced their support to the ruling NDA.
Rebel MP after meeting the Speaker Sudeep Bandyopadhyay Said that the letter has been signed by 20 rebel MPs. All the signatures were verified one by one. They demanded from the Speaker that separate arrangements should be made for them to sit in the Lok Sabha.
He said that the Lok Sabha Speaker has agreed to provide a separate room in the Parliament House. For that also he said to give the letter. We will give you a room.
The number of rebel MPs is more than two-thirds
He said that the number of our MPs is more than two-thirds. The issue does not go that far because there is not a two-thirds majority. It is the same in the Assembly also. Let us tell you that in the Assembly too, the rebel TMC MLAs have formed a separate faction and the Assembly Speaker, while recognizing that faction, has recognized Ritabrata Banerjee as the Leader of Opposition.
Sudip Bandyopadhyay said that we are merging with a party. That party is Nationalist Citizens. When Parliament opens on July 20, another Trinamool will also come. In such a situation, who is the real Trinamool Congress? Where will the claims go if the matter goes to court and the decision taken by the court will be considered.
He said that I do not know much about the rebellion, because there are some people who are working on it. I already told you that I have won from Kolkata 10 times. My wife has also won five times and husband-wife together from the same family have won 15 times. We don’t have any children. Both men kept doing this their whole lives.
There will be a fight for the real Trinamool Congress
Sudip Bandyopadhyay said that he was the parliamentary leader of Trinamool from 2011 to 2026. He was with Mamata Banerjee for a long time. Questions were asked about their District President. In this situation, how much longer will he live? After some time the body also needs rest.
He said that Abhishek Banerjee will definitely say that the real TMC is his, because we were also in this TMC. It has gone beyond what the Constitution allows. The parliamentary constitution allows this. Law and parliamentary rules also allow this. In such a situation, Abhishek Banerjee can say something. He can give the letter. He can make his claim, but more than two-thirds of the MPs are with us.
