17 sixes, century hit in just 29 balls… Video of Yuzvendra Chahal’s stormy innings goes viral

June 15, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Yuzvendra Chahal: Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is known for his magical bowling, but recently a different side of him was seen on social media. Chahal accepted a unique batting challenge from former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen and created havoc with the bat on the field, scoring a century in just 29 balls. However, there was a big twist behind this stormy century of Chahal.

What was Pietersen’s unique challenge?

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has shared the video of this challenge on his YouTube channel. In this special batting challenge, Yuzvendra Chahal had the target of scoring 100 runs in 50 balls. The biggest condition of this challenge was that the speed of the bowling machine was increasing by 1 mile per hour (1 mph) after every ball. Started at 51 mph. However, Chahal is a bowler, so Kevin Pietersen shortened the boundary for him. For this challenge, the boundary was kept only 40 meters, so that Chahal could easily play big shots.

Fifty in just 14 balls, century in 29 balls

Chahal started this challenge with a bang and hit two huge sixes in the first two balls. After this strong start, he completed his half century in 14 balls, which he celebrated in a special way and Pietersen also hugged him. Despite being out on the 16th and 20th balls, Chahal continued hitting sixes and reached 90 runs in 25 balls. Ultimately, he completed his century by hitting another brilliant six on the 29th ball. According to the rules, when he was out, runs were also subtracted from his score, despite this he managed to touch the figure of 100 runs in 29 balls. To complete this challenge, Chahal hit a total of 17 sixes and completed the task of Pietersen.

Didn’t get a chance in Team India for a long time

Yuzvendra Chahal has been struggling to make a place in Team India for the last few years. He played his last match for Team India in the year 2023. At the same time, the IPL 2026 season was nothing special for him. Punjab Kings had retained him for a huge amount of Rs 18 crore, but he could take only 12 wickets in 12 innings at an average of 32.08 and economy of 9.39.
