At the same time, the business history of the Sethi family and the claims of the local people are also making this case more interesting.
Haveli owner Rahul Sethi has lodged a complaint at Manakchowk police station. It is alleged that during the excavation of the mansion, about 40 to 45 kg of silver ingots, 14 to 15 urns filled with gold coins and 8 to 10 thousand old silver coins were found, which the contractor and his associates distributed among themselves. In the case registered at Manak Chowk police station, Rahul Sethi said that before the construction work started, clear instructions were given to the contractor that any valuable item found during the excavation would be handed over to the family. Later a laborer revealed the entire matter and two videos were also found, which have been handed over to the police.
According to local people, Rahul Sethi’s grandfather Badrinarayan Sethi was counted among the big businessmen of Jaipur and Mumbai in the 1970s. He had a big sweets business in Mumbai by the name of GD Mawa Wala & Company. The elders of the area say that the prosperity of the Sethi family was famous in the entire city. According to family history, Badrinarayan Sethi had two marriages. Durgalalal Sethi was born from his first wife and Ghanshyam Sethi was born from his second wife. Ghanshyam Sethi’s sons are Tarun Sethi and Rahul Sethi. Local people say that this family has been among the prestigious business families of old Jaipur for years.
What do the local people say?
Local resident Amit tells that this old mansion was right in front of us. It was demolished about one and a half years ago. Since then there has been talk in the area that treasure was found during the excavation. Badrinarayan Sethi was a very rich man, hence people believe that there may be old treasure in the mansion. Although we have not seen anything ourselves, these are just discussions.
Local shopkeeper Raja Ramchandani told that when the work of demolishing the mansion started one and a half years ago, people used to discuss that gold and silver could be found in the mansion. The owner of the mansion, Rahul Sethi, had also got it investigated and it was discussed that the owner had found some treasure at that time. But now it is being heard that the contractor who did the work has taken out the treasure. But if the treasure has been found then it belongs to the owner of the mansion and he should get it.
Many ancient mansions are still present here
Vidyadhar Rasta is included in the oldest and historical areas of Jaipur. Many ancient mansions still exist here. In such a situation, there is talk of this alleged treasure in the entire area, but till now no government agency has confirmed the finding of the treasure.
Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal said that a case has been registered on the basis of the complaint. The police have seized the pen drive and other evidence. The authenticity of the video, the people concerned are being interrogated and all aspects are being investigated. The real situation will become clear only after investigation. At present, police investigation is ongoing. The biggest question is whether treasure worth crores was actually found from the mansion or it is just a claim. The answer to this will now come out only after the police investigation and forensic report.
