The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against 13 accused in the special fast track court set up for cases related to NEET paper leak. CBI told the court that there is a charge sheet of 20 thousand pages. In which sections of criminal conspiracy, fraud, criminal breach of trust, destruction of evidence, corruption and offenses under the Public Examination Act have been imposed.
According to CBI, there are 360 witnesses, 422 documents and 43 physical evidence in the charge sheet. On May 12, 2026, an FIR was registered on the complaint of the Higher Education Department. All the 13 accused arrested in the NEET paper leak case are currently in judicial custody.
Raid on 92 locations
CBI had formed a team of 72 officers including 8 cyber experts and raided 92 locations in many states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi. During this, digital devices and documents were seized and forensic investigation was conducted. CBI said that the leak has been confirmed by forensic, handwriting and academic reports.
A total of 13 people were arrested
According to CBI, the first arrest was made on 13 May 2026. A total of 13 people have been arrested in the paper leak case, including 3 subject experts of NTA. Along with this, middlemen and two people associated with coaching were also arrested. CBI said that the investigation of money trail is going on. Several bank accounts, lockers and a demat account have been frozen.
Next hearing will be on August 3
The Special Fast Track Court located at Rouse Avenue Court has taken the CBI charge sheet on record. The court has given three days additional time to CBI to file the annexure of the charge sheet. The court noted that a list of documents, statements and items has been attached to the charge sheet. The court asked CBI where the statements and other documents cited in the charge sheet were.
CBI sought time to file the annexure documents of the charge sheet. CBI told the court that 20,000 pages of annexure documents are being scanned. The next hearing of the case will be on August 3 in Rouse Avenue Court.
