110 days, 7000 deaths and Rs 122 lakh crore wasted… How did Trump lose in the deal with Iran?

June 18, 2026 by Uma Shankar

US President Donald Trump has signed a historic agreement with Iran, but experts are considering it America’s biggest diplomatic defeat. After more than 7 thousand deaths and wasting Rs 122 lakh crore in the 110-day war, Trump had to accept the deal on Iran’s terms. US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed the 14-point agreement at the Versailles Palace in France. French President Emmanuel Macron was present during this period. Interestingly, the First World War also ended after the signing at this very place.

Earlier this MoU was to be signed on June 19, in which the American and Iranian delegations were expected to sign together. But this did not happen. Trump signed the MoU in France and Iranian President Pezeshkian signed the agreement from Iran itself. Pakistan President Shahbaz Sharif signed this agreement as a mediator.

Main points of agreement

  • Movement of ships through Hormuz Strait will be normal in 30 days
  • American naval blockade will be lifted in 30 days
  • Iran will never make nuclear weapons
  • America will create a $300 billion fund for Iran
  • America will give exemption to Iranian oil and petrochemical services
  • Iran’s frozen assets will be released
  • Both countries will finalize the final agreement in 60 days
  • The agreement will get UNSC approval after 60 days.
  • There is a world of difference between Trump’s claims and reality.

The real reality of Trump’s claims

Trump’s claim reality
Destroyed Iran’s entire navy Agreement reached on Iran’s terms
Iran’s entire air defense destroyed Dream of change of power in Iran shattered
Iran’s entire missile stockpile was destroyed Iran emerged more powerful
brought Iran to its knees Trump signed the deal after embarrassing himself

economic loss of war

America was spending 1 billion dollars every day in this war. 39 American aircraft and drones were destroyed in the war, which cost more than 2 billion dollars. About 30 percent of the American arms stockpile was spent, inflation increased in America and the American stock market S&P fell by 7.8 percent.

Who said what on the deal?

Donald Trump said, “No American president in history has adopted as tough a policy against Iran as I have. If they don’t follow the agreement, we will bomb again.”

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqir Kalibaf said, “We have defeated both America and Israel. Iran fought the enemy on 4 fronts. The enemies were forced to compromise.” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bakai said, “There will be no talks on our missile program. Missiles are not for talking, but for attacking.”

Apart from this, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said, “I welcome this agreement. President Trump has made a good agreement. It weakens Iran’s nuclear capability.”

Did Trump surrender?

The Iranian leadership is calling it Trump’s surrender, while Trump is calling it his victory. Trump himself admitted that if the war had continued, the world’s oil reserves would have been exhausted in 4 weeks and global anarchy would have spread. Experts believe that this is America’s fourth major diplomatic and strategic defeat after Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Both America and Iran have made it clear that if the terms of the agreement are not followed, they will not step back from the bombing. This means that even if this deal stops the war for the time being, tension may increase again in the coming days. After 110 days of war, 7 thousand deaths and destruction of Rs 122 lakh crore, Trump had to compromise on Iran’s terms. Whether it is called a ‘deal’ or ‘surrender’, the fact is that Iran has once again established its dominance on the negotiating table.
