11 fours-sixes… Richa Ghosh’s stormy innings was ruined, England snatched the match in the last over.

ICC Womens T20 World Cup 2026: Amidst the preparations for the Women’s T20 World Cup, Team India played its second and last warm-up match against the England team. In this match, the Indian team had to face defeat by 5 runs. In the warm-up match played at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, England women’s team defeated Team India in the last over. Although Richa Ghosh had a stormy innings in this match, she could not lead the team to victory.

England put a big score on the board

Batting first, the England team scored a big score of 171 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Opener Amy Jones played a brilliant inning of 64 runs, while captain Nat Sciver-Brunt contributed 57 runs. Danny Gibson remained on the pitch after scoring 30 not out. On the other hand, Shreyanka Patil took 2 wickets in India’s bowling. Whereas, Shafali Verma, Renuka Singh, Radha Yadav and Shri Charani got one wicket each.

Richa Ghosh played a fighting innings

In reply, India had a bad start. Smriti Mandhana was out after scoring only 1 run, Shafali Verma also returned to the pavilion after scoring 13 runs. At the same time, Yastika Bhatia (15), Harmanpreet Kaur (17) and Bharti Fulmali (18) played short innings, but due to continuous fall of wickets, there was a brake on the run rate. However, Richa Ghosh held one end and played a stormy innings of 68 runs in 36 balls. This innings of Richa Ghosh included 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Richa Ghosh had brought Team India very close to victory, the team had to score 6 runs on the last 3 balls, then Richa Ghosh was out and then the team lost the match by 5 runs. In response to this target, Team India was all out after scoring 166 runs in 19.5 overs. Now Team India will play its first match in this tournament against Pakistan on June 14.
