According to the Speedtest Global Index April 2026 report, Singapore remains the country with the fastest fixed broadband internet in the world. The average download speed here has been recorded at 430.31 Mbps, which is far ahead of all the countries included in the list. Singapore has been continuously investing in digital infrastructure and high speed connectivity for the last several years.
UAE and France are not far behind
In this list, United Arab Emirates is at second place with an average speed of 375.66 Mbps. Whereas France has jumped one place and achieved third position with 354.04 Mbps speed. Hong Kong is at fourth place with 350.73 Mbps.
Europe and America dominate the top 10
In the report, Chile is at fifth place with 345.05 Mbps, Iceland is at sixth place with 343.14 Mbps and Macau is at seventh place with 314.29 Mbps. Apart from this, America is at eighth place with 308.63 Mbps. Switzerland and Denmark are in the top 10 list with 295.72 Mbps and 292.89 Mbps speeds respectively.

Why is India’s ranking a matter of concern?
India is ranked 102nd in this list with an average download speed of 61.7 Mbps. India has slipped one place compared to the previous ranking. Although the number of internet users in the country is increasing rapidly and the fiber network is also expanding, the speed is still very low compared to the competition at the global level. Better internet is available in big cities, but there is still a need to strengthen the network and broadband infrastructure in rural and remote areas. This is the reason why India currently appears far behind compared to the top countries.
