The politics of Madhya Pradesh has heated up over the alleged dispute over government land worth Rs 500 crore in Ujjain. After the allegations made by State Congress President Jitu Patwari, now the matter seems to be reaching the court. Senior advocate Harish Mehta, on behalf of Chief Minister’s Cultural Advisor and Veer Bharat Trust Secretary Shriram Tiwari, has sent a defamation notice of Rs 5 crore to Jitu Patwari.
Senior advocate Harish Mehta said in the press conference held in Bhopal that during the press conference held in Delhi, Jitu Patwari said that the government land was handed over to a private trust linked to Shri Ram Tiwari at a throwaway price. He said that these allegations are completely false, misleading and beyond the facts.
“Veer Bharat Trust constituted by the government”
Harish Mehta said that it is factually wrong to call Veer Bharat Trust a private trust. Veer Bharat Trust is a government institution formed by the state government, which is operated under the prescribed rules and statutory provisions of the government. An attempt was made to spread confusion among the public by calling it a private institution.
“The reputation of Shri Ram Tiwari has been hurt”
The senior advocate said that the allegations made without any concrete facts have caused serious damage to the personal, social and public reputation of Chief Minister’s Cultural Advisor and Trust Secretary Shriram Tiwari. For this reason, a defamation notice of Rs 5 crore has been sent to Jitu Patwari on his behalf.
If there is no apology, legal action will be taken
Advocate Gunjan Choukse was also present in the press conference. He said that in a democracy there is freedom to make allegations, but damaging the reputation of a person or institution without facts is not acceptable and the law will take its course in such cases.
He said that in April 2013, the Culture Department of Madhya Pradesh Government had established Veer Bharat Trust. He said that this trust was not created as a private institution, but it was established by the government for a public purpose.
What was the Patwari’s allegation?
Let us tell you that in the press conference held in Delhi, State Congress President Jitu Patwari had alleged that government land worth about Rs 500 crore located in Ujjain was allotted at a very low price to a trust linked to Shriram Tiwari, the secretary of the trust and cultural advisor to the Chief Minister. On behalf of Veer Bharat Trust Secretary Shriram Tiwari, he has completely rejected these allegations and termed them baseless and has now adopted the path of legal action.
