Uttar Pradesh Police has claimed that the life of a 25-year-old youth was saved in Meerut district due to the coordination system developed between Meta and Police. According to the police, taking immediate action on the suicide alert received by Meta after a video related to suicide was posted on Instagram, the police of Sardhana police station reached the youth in just eight minutes and admitted him to the hospital.
According to the police statement, the youth, resident of Sardhana area, had posted a video on Instagram on June 7, in which he was seen drinking a white colored liquid. It was written on the video, ‘Now you be happy in your life.
Suicidal alert sent to social media center
Police said that at 6.53 pm, Meta sent a suicidal alert regarding this post to the social media center located at the police headquarters. As per the instructions of the Director General of Police (DGP), the social media center immediately informed the Meerut Police on the basis of the available mobile number and location.

Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Sardhana police station took immediate action and reached the youth’s house and searched for him. His condition was found critical on the spot. A bottle of suspicious liquid was also found with him. With the help of family members, the policemen admitted the young man to a nearby hospital, where after treatment his condition became normal.
mental stress and depression
During interrogation, the young man told that due to the breakup of his love relationship, he was going through mental stress and depression, due to which he attempted to commit suicide. The police also provided necessary guidance by counseling him and his family members.
Police saved lives of 3011 people
According to the statement, under the arrangement between Uttar Pradesh Police and Meta from the year 2022, information about suicide posts on Facebook and Instagram is immediately made available to the police. According to the police, by acting on such alerts received from January 1, 2023 to May 31, 2026, Uttar Pradesh Police has saved the lives of 3,011 people.
