After the defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, Trinamool Congress is collapsing like a pack of cards. Trinamool Congress has already divided into two pieces in the assembly. 58 MLAs of Trinamool Congress have formed a new group and now the parliamentary party of Trinamool Congress is also standing on the verge of collapse. According to sources, amid speculations of a split, Trinamool MPs are moving to Delhi. Rebel MPs are uniting under the leadership of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. However, names of all the MPs are not in the list. However, many have moved towards Delhi.
meanwhile, Trinamool Congress National General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee reached Delhi from Kolkata on Saturday. Party supremo and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also reaching Delhi today. On Monday, Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee will attend the meeting of India Alliance in Delhi.
But there is intense speculation in political circles whether there will be a major split in the Trinamool Parliamentary Party on the day of Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Delhi on Monday?
Rebel TMC MPs are gathering in Delhi
According to sources, some of the rebel Lok Sabha MPs of Trinamool Congress have come to Delhi. Most can come by evening. Out of 28 Trinamool Congress MPs in the Lok Sabha, about 20 MPs are with Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.
According to sources, MPs like June Mallya, Deepak Adhikari alias Dev, Yusuf Pathan, Shatabdi Roy, Rachna Banerjee, Shatrughan Sinha, Partha Bhowmik, Jagdish Chandra Basunia have already started distancing themselves from the party. Among these, June Malia is not attending any party program, but is reportedly busy shooting for an OTT.
Sources say that instead of staying in their official residence, the MP is staying in a hotel in Delhi. Rebel MPs may possibly meet the Lok Sabha Speaker tomorrow. Of the 13 Rajya Sabha MPs of Trinamool Congress, 9 are said to be ready to revolt against the party leadership.
Only Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen, Maneka Guruswamy and Sagarika Ghosh can remain with Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. Sameerul Islam is also said to be with Mamata Banerjee. According to sources, IPS Rajiv Kumar, former DGP of West Bengal and considered close to Mamata Banerjee, and Babul Supriyo, who came to TMC from BJP, are also in contact with the rebel group.
Plan to form separate faction in Lok Sabha
Sources say that a blue print is being prepared to remove Abhishek Banerjee from the post of leader in the Lok Sabha by writing a letter to the Speaker. They are not ready to accept Abhishek Banerjee as the party leader in the Lok Sabha. His second objective is to create a new Trinamool block within the Lok Sabha, like Ritabrata Banerjee in the Assembly.
However, BJP’s message is completely clear. At present he will not take any Trinamool MP into the party. Naturally, they will be a separate block. In such a situation, they will keep an eye on what is the policy of Lok Sabha in the matter of floor coordination.
But if they really want this, how can this be done while avoiding the anti-defection law? Because, in this case, the number of rebel MPs will have to be fixed so much that they do not come under the ambit of this law in any way, that is, the support of two-thirds of the MPs is required.
