June 9, 2026 by Uma Shankar

There has been an uproar in Pakistan occupied Kashmir for the last 3 days. Thousands of people have taken to the streets after the ban on People’s Action Committee. The government of Pakistan has used all its strength to suppress the people’s protest. 4 policemen and 7 civilians have died in the violent clash. At the same time, there is news of 70 people being injured.

the government has pok This movement has been called divisive, while the People’s Action Committee says that their demands are legitimate. The question is being raised as to what are the demands due to which Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is once again on fire.

The whole story of PoK burning

The script of the simmering protest in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) had been written 9 months in advance. In fact, in September 2025, the People’s Action Committee had protested regarding many of its demands. This demonstration lasted for about a week. The main demand of the committee was to abolish the 12 seats reserved for migrant Kashmiris in the PoK Assembly under delimitation.

At that time an agreement was reached between the government and the People’s Action Committee, in which it was agreed to find a solution to this issue. However, the government did not take any concrete steps in this direction for the next 9 months. Now elections have been announced in PoK.

As soon as the elections were announced, the members of the People’s Action Committee came out against the government. The committee had made preparations to organize protests across PoK on June 9, but before that the Pakistan government banned the committee.

Most of the members of the committee have also been banned under the terrorism law. The government is trying to end the protests completely. So that, an atmosphere of anti-incumbency cannot be created against him.

People’s Action Committee says that the protests will continue until the reservation for 12 posts is abolished. Non-violent protests will continue against the government.

PM said- Preparation to divide into 2 pieces

Administrative head of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and Prime Minister of PoK, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has given a statement regarding the protest. According to Faisal Mumtaz, the People’s Action Committee is preparing to divide PoK into two parts. The proposed demonstration on June 9 is just an excuse.

Faisal Mumtaz says that according to the intelligence inputs we have received, people of People’s Action Committee will spread violence here in the coming days. Will sabotage. Keeping this in view, a ban has been imposed on the committee.

Faisal Mumtaz says that if the people of the committee are ready to talk to the government, then we can talk. He further said that the objective of the committee is to instigate the people here against the government.
