In America, tailoring work is not only considered respectable, but a good income can also be earned from it. There the service of fitting and alteration of clothes is in demand. Regarding this, Indian woman Komal Pandey living in America has shown people the truth of the tailoring business there through a video.
Komal tells in her video that if a person has good experience in sewing or tailoring, then America can prove to be a country with better opportunities for him. He says that the income received for this work there is many times more than in India. This is the reason why the demand for experienced tailors remains constant.
How much does Taylor earn?
In the video, Komal tells that a tailor in America can earn up to $25 per hour on an average. Its price in Indian currency is approximately Rs 2200 to 2300. This means that an experienced tailor in America can earn the same amount of money that many people in India earn after a whole day’s hard work in one hour.
Not only this, good fees are also charged there for small tasks related to alteration of clothes i.e. fitting. For example, if the length of a pair of jeans needs to be reduced or its fitting changed, the customer may have to spend up to $40 for this. In Indian Rupees this amount is approximately between Rs 3500 to Rs 4000. While in India similar work can be done for a few hundred rupees, in America many times more is paid for it.
According to Komal, most of the people in America buy readymade clothes. However, readymade clothes do not fit perfectly according to every person’s body. That’s why people often get them altered as per their needs. This is the reason why there is continuous work for tailors and alteration experts. This is an area in which there is no dearth of customers.

In the video, he also told that if a person’s tailoring work in India is not doing as per comparison, then he can also consider the opportunities available abroad. Especially in countries like America where skilled hands are valued and hard work is paid well.
Komal believes that if someone has experience in sewing, embroidery and designing, then he can not only go there and get a job but can also start his own boutique or alteration centre. The market for fashion and custom fitting in America is very big, which gives new businessmen also an opportunity to grow.
