England Cheating Controversy: A strange incident has come to light in England’s domestic cricket which is tearing apart the spirit of the game. During the match played between Saltburn and Norton in Second XI Division 2, a fielder of the Saltburn team has been seriously accused of cheating the umpire by pinching and taking wickets by fraud. After the video of this incident surfaced on social media, North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League has started investigating the matter.
What is the whole controversy?
In the video going viral, it can be seen that Norton team’s batsman Noman Shabbir was present at the crease. Then as soon as the ball passed right near his bat, a fielder from Saltburn, standing in the slip, made his pinch. Due to which the umpire understood the sound made by pinching as the contact between the ball and the bat. As soon as wicketkeeper Josh Bowes took the catch, the entire team made a strong appeal and the umpire declared Noman Shabbir caught out. It is alleged that this action of the fielder was a completely calculated cheating so that the umpire could get the illusion that the ball had hit the bat.

This controversial video is going viral very fast on social media. In view of the growing controversy, the North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League have issued a statement confirming that they have received a formal complaint regarding Saturday’s match. The league said that the matter is being investigated impartially and no statement will be made on it until the investigation process is completed.
Saltburn has already been accused of cheating
After this video surfaced, Middlesbrough Second XI captain Rory Cotterill claimed that this is not the first incident. He alleged that when his team faced Saltburn last month, two incidents of cheating had taken place in that match. In that match, Middlesbrough had to face defeat by 29 runs. At the same time, this time Saltburn won the match by a huge margin of 159 runs and remains on top of the table with 17 points.
