A new slogan has now started resonating amid the ongoing protests in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). ‘The reason behind this terrorism is the uniform.’ This slogan was earlier heard in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but has now become a part of big rallies and demonstrations in PoJK also. Addressing thousands of protesters, Sardar Aman Khan made serious allegations against the Pakistan Army and the Islamabad government.
He said that those who are demanding hospital, employment, food and basic rights are being called terrorists. Sardar Aman Khan said, ask the people of Balochistan who are the terrorists, they will point towards the army. Ask the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, they will also say the same. Such voices are being raised in Sindh and Punjab too and now the people of PoJK are also openly saying that the real fear and terror comes from the people in uniform.
What things are you demanding?
In recent times, protests against the Pakistan government and military establishment have intensified in PoJK. The protesters are demanding political rights, economic relief, employment and better administration. There have also been reports of clashes between protesters and security forces at many places. Such slogans are being used openly in PoJK. The ever-increasing protests have created a new challenge for Islamabad.
Strong condemnation of JKJAAC
Amnesty condemned the decision to declare Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) as a “proscribed organization” under the anti-terrorism law. Amnesty described the move as illegal and excessively harsh and said it was a serious attack on freedom of association and peaceful political activities. The action intensified when, according to reports, talks between JKJAAC and officials regarding the formation of the area assembly failed.
