
A new chapter has been added to India’s space history. On Saturday (July 18), Skyroot Aerospace’s Ikram-1 rocket was successfully launched from Sriharikota. After this historic achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the team of Skyroot Aerospace and congratulated them. He called it a big success for the country’s growing space sector.
Prime Minister Modi congratulated Skyroot Aerospace founder Pawan Chandna, Naga Bharat Daka and the entire team. He said that this is a new milestone in India’s space journey, adding that this success is just the beginning and there is still a long way to go. Along with this, PM has also called ‘Team Ikram-1’ to meet him.

‘Private space sector is also maintaining its strong identity in the world’
Along with this, PM Modi also said that when the Central Government had decided to open India’s space sector to private companies, many people had raised questions on it. But the success of Vikram-1 has proved that this decision was right and now India’s private space sector is also making its strong identity in the world.
PM’s written postcard sent into space
A payload containing micro artwork and a handwritten postcard of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Vande Mataram message was also sent into space through Vikram-1 rocket. Along with this, handwritten postcards of engineers, scientists and Indian astronauts were also sent. This launch, operated under the name Mission Aagaman, is being considered a historic achievement for India’s private space sector.
The Vikram-1 rocket, which is about seven storeys high, took off from the first launch pad of Sriharikota at 11.30 am on Saturday. Skyroot Aerospace said the functionality of the rocket’s guidance and navigation systems will be verified by analyzing engineering data obtained during this test flight. Also, based on this data, necessary technical improvements will be made for future commercial satellite missions.
