The sunrise of MP will develop from Malwa…a mission to change the lives of 1.25 crore people

June 20, 2026 by Uma Shankar

With the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, UIMR is going to become a new gateway to the progress of Madhya Pradesh. Under this ambitious plan, it has been resolved to extend the concept of development from big cities like Indore to small towns and tehsils of the surrounding areas. This is the reason that the scope of this region has been increased 6 times to more than 16,000 square kilometers.

Now along with Indore, 38 tehsils and 2,781 villages of 6 districts like Ujjain, Dewas, Dhar, Ratlam and Shajapur will be developed rapidly. Where 1.25 crore people reside. This strategic framework will ensure Madhya Pradesh’s leading participation in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of ‘Developed India @2047’.

5 lakh job opportunities and new industrial land bank

Malwa region UIMR has a vast land bank of over 13,500 hectares and 14 new proposed industrial parks to establish India as a global manufacturing hub. Through this industrial revolution, it is estimated that 5 lakh new job opportunities will be created for the local youth.

Pithampur is being prepared for the new era of electric vehicles and advanced engineering, while Ujjain’s Vikram Udyogpuri will be developed as an ‘anchor city’. Apart from this, Ratlam will be given a new identity as an export hub by making it a major logistics and trade node.

Connectivity of 16000 square kilometers in just 1 hour

The biggest foundation of its success is its unprecedented connectivity vision, which aims to ensure ’60 minutes access’ across the entire 16,000 sq km area. For this, work has started on mega projects like a ‘Greenfield Corridor’ between Indore and Ujjain and Indore-Bhopal Expressway.

Under the Ujjain Indore Metro Expansion Plan, public transport will be upgraded, so that citizens can reach the main economic centers within just an hour. This region will be directly connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Expressway, through which the goods manufactured in the factories here will be able to reach major ports within a few hours.

Today, Bhoomi Pujan of road and sewer construction works was done in Tulsi Nagar area of Indore and benefits were distributed to the beneficiaries. Indore has performed excellently across the country in Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and cleanliness campaign.

Metropolitan Region Land Pooling Model and Farmers’ Participation

Chief Minister Yadav has started a new era of development by laying the foundation of the first phase of Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor. This is the first land pooling model in the country, where 60% of their developed land will be given back to the farmers of 17 villages, making the farmers not just land givers but also direct beneficiaries of development.

Under this ‘Multi-Nodal Network’ strategy, cities like Dewas, Dhar, Maksi and Shajapur will also be developed as growth nodes, so that the pressure of population and resources on big cities like Indore can be reduced.

Metro Expansion Plan and Blue-Green Development Policy

To protect the environment in this race of development, ‘Blue-Green Development’ policy has been implemented. Here Blue means water area and Green means forest area. Under this, there will be a strict ban on construction near Narmada River and other water bodies (Blue) and forest areas (Green) and extensive plantation has been made mandatory to increase greenery.

‘Zero liquid discharge’ system will be adopted in industrial areas so that polluted water does not enter the rivers. These future industrial clusters will be ‘carbon neutral’ and will meet their power needs from renewable energy sources like solar and wind power.

Spiritual tourism and 10 percent GDP in Malwa region

It is based on the wonderful confluence of ‘development as well as heritage’. The government aims to reach 10% of the tourism sector’s contribution to the state’s GDP by the year 2047. More than 5 crore devotees will arrive in Ujjain alone in 2023, in view of which Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Mandu and Maheshwar are being connected as a luxury tourism circuit.

This will include rural tourism, Narmada River Front Development and a large network of heritage hotels, which will open unlimited sources of income at the local level.

Data Driven Planning and MP Metropolitan Area Development Act 2025

To eliminate the obstacles in urban planning, the government has brought ‘Madhya Pradesh Metropolitan Area Planning and Development Act, 2025’. Now the expansion of cities will be based on scientific data and geospatial tools instead of traditional thinking. An empowered ‘Metropolitan Authority’ will be formed, which will have the supreme statutory authority to plan and implement it for the entire area.

This authority will prepare the infrastructure in advance by assessing the potential population and traffic needs of the next 20 to 50 years (pro-active planning), so that future generations do not have to face chaos.
