In Mahabubabad district of Telangana, people who went for fishing in the pond on the occasion of Mrigashira Kart suddenly got into trouble. A case was registered against him for looting fish in the pond. On the complaint of fishermen who were fishing in the pond, the police arrested 14 people. 60 two-wheelers belonging to fish robbers were seized and taken to the police station. This incident happened in Mahabubabad district. All the fish in the big pond on the outskirts of Kuravi Mandal were looted. People from nearby villages and people living near the pond suddenly broke down.
They looted the fish with net, saree and lungi, as if they ran away with whatever fish they caught. Here more than a thousand people, young and old, entered the pond without any discrimination and started looting the fishes. Here the entire pond was filled with people, it was a fair like atmosphere. Many people had taken the caught fish home and were celebrating.
14 people arrested
Despite the pleas of the fishermen, they looted the pond without listening. On this occasion the victims complained to the police. The police took about 60 two-wheelers from near the pond to the police station by tractor. 14 people were arrested with the fishes. Fishermen expressed their grief over this huge loss. The police have warned that if such atrocities happen again, strict action will be taken. There is a lot of concern among fishermen due to the recent incidents in the pond.
Fishermen say that fish is good for health. Fishermen of Upragudem village are doing fish farming by taking this pond on lease. The fishermen are worried that while rearing, catching and selling the baby fish, the villagers are attacking the pond and looting the fish. Fishermen say that fish worth about Rs 1.5 lakh has been looted.
