
Team India New Fielding Coach: Indian cricket team is going to get a new fielding coach. According to reports, experienced coach Subhdeep Ghosh has been appointed as the new fielding coach of the Indian team. He replaces T Dileep, whose tenure ended with the England tour and the BCCI decided not to extend him further. Subhdeep Ghosh will start his tenure with the Indian team from the Sri Lanka tour, where a 2-match Test series will be played, he will hold this responsibility till the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Who is the new fielding coach Subhdeep Ghosh?
Subhdeep Ghosh comes from Assam, even though Subhdeep never got a chance to play for Team India in international cricket, his experience in coaching has been quite excellent. He has been the fielding coach of the Indian women’s cricket team and the Indian Under-19 team. Earlier this year, when the Indian Under-19 team won the title, Subhdeep was the fielding coach of the team.
Subhdeep Ghosh also has coaching experience in IPL. He has worked in IPL with Delhi Capitals (2018) and Kolkata Knight Riders (2019). Apart from this, after parting ways with KKR in 2020, he joined BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (now Center of Excellence). He also went as a fielding coach with the India ‘A’ team that toured Australia in 2021 and has been continuously active in the Indian cricket setup for the last 6 years.
How was your domestic career?
Subhdeep Ghosh’s domestic career was not very big. Playing for Assam and Railways, he played a total of 17 first-class and 17 List-A matches, in which he scored 316 and 307 runs. He played his last home match in the year 2005. On the other hand, during the tenure of Rahul Dravid, T Dilip was made the fielding coach of Team India. But in recent times, the fielding level of the Indian team has dropped considerably, due to which he has been dismissed. Recently, during the tour of Ireland, England and Zimbabwe, Team India dropped a total of 21 catches, due to which BCCI has decided to hand over this responsibility to Subhdeep Ghosh in place of T Dilip.
