During the discussion on anti-paper leak bill in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, BJP MP Tejashwi Surya attacked the opposition. He also used the terminology ‘Gen-Z’ a lot. Surya targeted Rahul Gandhi’s decision to protest near the Prime Minister’s residence. During this, he also surrounded Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
Tejasvi Surya said, “When the students were protesting, Rahul Gandhi was struggling with ‘political FOMO’ (fear of missing something). He did not know where to go, because he saw that others were gaining more headlines. As a result, he went and sat directly in front of the Prime Minister’s residence.” Which in a way was the ignorance of Rahul Gandhi and the people sitting there with him.
Students will benefit from the new education policy
Tejasvi Surya said students start preparing for competitive exams like NEET right from the eighth grade, and many spend years in cities like Kota, where they become part of a culture that prioritizes rote learning. Surya said that deciding the entire future through a single three-hour exam puts a lot of pressure on the students. He said that the new education policy is working towards changing this system, promoting critical thinking and implementing multidisciplinary education framework.
Youth want solutions, not politics
Tejaswi Surya stressed that the youth of the country want solutions instead of politics. He said that the main concern of the students is to ensure that future examinations are conducted in a fair and transparent manner. Surya emphasized that education is the most important means of social mobility, especially for children from ordinary families, for whom it is the main path to success.
Government’s stand on paper leak
He described the paper leak as a serious betrayal of the students’ trust. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed it a “sin” and took immediate corrective steps. These steps included ordering a CBI investigation, making arrests and ensuring timely declaration of test results. Surya said that the government has made major reforms to strengthen the examination system, and this bill is an important step in that direction. He also appealed for constructive cooperation from the opposition.
