
Activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday, the 21st day of her indefinite hunger strike. His wife Gitanjali J. Angmo said that no medical treatment should be given to him without his approval. After Wangchuk was taken away from the protest site at Jantar Mantar, Angmo said, “He is in Safdarjung Hospital. I have forbidden him from giving anything without my approval.”
He said that no treatment should start without my approval. If anything happens, everyone will be responsible for it.” He wrote in a post on social media He said that he should not be given anything orally or intravenously without the approval of his family and the doctors who have been monitoring his health for the last 20 days.

‘This is my right’
Angmo questioned the decision to admit him to the hospital and said that Wangchuk was looking fine on Friday. There was no need to bring him to the hospital. This is my right under Article 32. No medicine or treatment can be given to him without my and my doctor’s approval.”
What did the DCP say?
New Delhi’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) said that in view of Wangchuk’s deteriorating health, following expert medical advice and orders of the Delhi High Court, he was shifted to the hospital for “necessary medical care”.
The DCP said, “As per the orders of the Honorable High Court and the advice of medical experts, in view of the deteriorating health of Sonam Wangchuk, she has been taken to the hospital for necessary medical care. Following the orders of the Honorable High Court, when she was being taken, the protesters tried to create obstruction, which led to some chaos.
“However, the police exercised restraint and completed the entire process safely.” Appealing to the protesters to end their agitation, the police said, “We request the protesters present at Jantar Mantar to vacate the place peacefully as soon as possible.”
