After scrutiny of nomination papers for two seats of Jharkhand Rajya Sabha elections, nomination of independent candidate Parimal Nathwani has been found valid. After this the returning officer approved his candidature. Earlier on Tuesday, during the scrutiny of nomination papers, nominations of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate Baijnath Ram and Congress Party candidate Pranav Jha were found valid. Whereas his nomination was put on hold due to objections on three points in the nomination papers.
In fact, on Tuesday, Congress candidate Pranab Jha’s proponent Naman Viksal Kongadi had raised objection to the nomination of Parimal Nathwani. After this, a hearing was held on Wednesday and after its completion, Returning Officer Ranjit Kumar declared the nomination valid. Meanwhile, there was a huge uproar between Congress leaders and ruling party members in the Assembly premises on Wednesday. The controversy escalated further when the returning officer did not allow senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid, who had come from Delhi to present the party’s side, to attend the hearing.
Returning Officer Ranjit Kumar was hearing during the scrutiny of nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections. The lawyers appearing for Parimal Nathwani started presenting their arguments at around 11:00 in the morning. The returning officer was satisfied with the answers given by Nathwani, after which his nomination papers were declared valid. Besides, the objections raised by Congress were also rejected.
Officer did not give permission to Congress leader Khurshid
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid had specially come to Ranchi from Delhi to raise objections and present arguments on behalf of Congress MLA Pranab Jha. Although Khurshid reached the Assembly at around 12:40 pm, the Returning Officer did not allow him to present his side during the proceedings. This decision spread resentment among Congress leaders and ministers.
Uproar in the assembly premises
It is being told that after the decision of the Returning Officer, Congress leaders and ministers created a ruckus in the Assembly premises. Congress made serious allegations against the returning officer. Congress said that the returning officer did not even listen to them. Whereas senior Congress leader and lawyer Salman Khurshid himself had come from Delhi to Jharkhand to argue in this case. This is a kind of dictatorship. Government officials are misusing their position.
