Let us know who is winning unopposed in which state and where the elections are stuck.
Victory of all four BJP candidates confirmed in Gujarat
All four BJP candidates filed their nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections from Gujarat on Monday. Due to Congress not contesting the elections, their victory seems certain. With the end of Shaktisinh Gohil’s tenure at the end of this month, there will be no Congress representative from Gujarat in the upper house of the Parliament. Four Rajya Sabha seats from Gujarat are falling vacant as the tenure of sitting MPs Rambhai Mokaria, Narhari Amin and Ramilaben Bara (all from BJP) and Shaktisinh Gohil of Congress is ending on June 21. Gohil is the only Congress member from Gujarat in the Rajya Sabha. BJP has made Rajubhai Shukla, Mansingh Parmar, Mukeshbhai Rathwa and Jitendra Kanjariya its candidates in this election.

- Votes required to win a Rajya Sabha seat: 58
- BJP MLA: 164
- Congress MLA: 64
- BAP MLA: 1
- Vijaypur MLA will not be able to vote
BJP’s mathematics…
- Votes required to win two seats: 116
- After spending 116 votes out of 164, BJP will be left with 48 votes.
- 58 votes are needed to win the third seat
- That means BJP will need additional 10 votes.
Congress’s mathematics…
- Effective votes of Congress: 63
- (The status of Bina MLA Nirmala Sapre is not clear)
- With BAP’s support the figure can reach 64.
- 6 votes more than the 58 votes required for victory
BJP’s third seat challenge
BJP has 48 votes of its own, but it needs 58 votes to win. This means that at least 10 additional votes will have to be arranged. For this, cross voting or additional support in the opposition camp can play a decisive role. This possibility has made the third seat of Rajya Sabha elections the most interesting.
Exciting fight in Jharkhand too
There are elections for two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand. Candidates of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress are in the fray from the Grand Alliance. Congress has given ticket to Pranab Jha while JMM has fielded Baidhnath Ram. Independent candidate Parimal Nathwani has increased the tension of the ruling party. BJP is supporting Parimal Nathwani. A total of 24 MLAs are standing in favor of Nathwani, while the support of 28 MLAs is required to win. The 4 MLAs that Nathwani needs for victory can only be the MLAs of the ruling party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha or Congress. India Bloc needs the support of 56 MLAs to win two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand. If even one of those votes goes back and forth, then the problem will increase. Parimal Nathwani has already been elected to Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand twice as an independent candidate. In both the earlier Rajya Sabha elections, Nathwani received the support of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
