According to the viral claim, NRI families spend money like water to keep Indian culture and customs alive in America. There, the number of qualified Pandits is very less compared to the demand, hence their fees skyrocket. The woman told that if you hold Satyanarayan Katha or even a small puja for just 2 hours in America, then the initial fee of the Pandit ji is 250 to 300 dollars (ie Rs 20,000 to about Rs 30 thousand).
He further told that the temples of America have their own rules. There, the temple administration itself charges 150 to 500 dollars (14 thousand rupees to approximately 50,000 rupees) for private puja. During weekends or festival seasons, booking has to be done months in advance. The woman also told that there is a lot of demand for priests on occasions like housewarming ceremony, Dhanteras and the Hindu month of Sawan.
