
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced to provide financial assistance to eligible women under ‘Mukhyamantri Maanva-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ from July 1st. Taking stock of the implementation of this scheme, Chief Minister Mann said that the objective of this initiative is to strengthen the economic independence of women and ensure that they can live their lives with self-respect.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann informed that under the ‘Mukhyamantri Maanwa-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’, every eligible woman of Punjab will get Rs 1,000 per month, while women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will get Rs 1,500 per month. “Funds will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries and women who are already receiving social security pension will also be eligible under the scheme,” he said.
Women’s Self-Respect Plan-Mana
Emphasizing the great social importance of this scheme, the Chief Minister said that although this financial assistance will not make women rich, it will definitely provide them self-respect. She said, “Women deserve the utmost respect as they are the source of life itself. The blessings of mothers and sisters can help overcome every challenge in the world. Strengthening women’s financial independence is essential to improve family well-being, promote gender equality and increase women’s participation in social and economic decisions.”
These institutions are responsible for registration
Taking stock of the progress of the registration process, the Chief Minister said that registration has already started across the state and names of lakhs of women are being registered every day. He said, “Women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category will get Rs 1,500 per month under this scheme. The responsibility of registering eligible beneficiaries has been entrusted to about two lakh ‘Mahila Satkar Sakhis’.”
The Chief Minister further informed that these registrations are being done through Anganwadi centres, service centers and other places specially designated by the Deputy Commissioners in the respective districts. “This initiative will go a long way in empowering women across Punjab and ensuring that they can live their lives with dignity and confidence,” he said.
