Padma Awards 2026: Padma Awards, India’s largest civilian honour, honors some of the country’s most loved personalities from the world of cinema, music and theatre. This year, names of 131 people are included in the list of Padma Awards, out of which 66 people have already received it and now the remaining celebrities will be honored on June 23. Actor-filmmaker R. Madhavan, veteran Malayalam superstar Mammootty, actor Satish Shah and Telugu cinema veteran Rajendra Prasad.
In the first felicitation ceremony held in May 2026, 66 people were given awards. Now the second ceremony will be organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Since the awards are given under a limited formal programme, the remaining ones will be honored in the second phase.
Padma Bhushan to Mammootty
Among the well-known personalities of the film industry, Mammootty will be honored with Padma Bhushan on June 23. In a career spanning more than five decades, Mammootty has worked in more than 400 films in multiple languages. He is also known for his contribution in social and charity related works. Padma Shri will be given to Satish Shah, who is known for his work in theatre, television and films. His career has spanned more than four decades and he is known for his comic timing and memorable performances.
Padma Shri to R Madhavan
Famous actor R. Madhavan will also be honored with Padma Shri. This actor, known as ‘Maddy’, has made a successful career in television and cinema. He has worked in more than 1,200 television episodes and 75 films in Tamil, Hindi and many other languages. He has also been involved in farming related work, which includes organic hydroponic farming in Mumbai and coconut farm in Tamil Nadu.
131 Padma awards approved
Meanwhile, Rajendra Prasad, selected for Padma Shri, is a veteran actor of Telugu cinema. He has worked in more than 286 films in 6 languages in a career spanning four decades and is also known for his social work. This year the President has approved 131 Padma awards, which include five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri awards.
Announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day, these awards recognize outstanding contributions in fields such as arts, literature, education, medicine, science, sports, public affairs, trade and industry, social service and civil service. Successful people from different fields across the country will be honored in this ceremony to be held on June 23.
