May 30, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The case of eviction of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi from her official residence 10 Circular Road is now gaining momentum. Secretariat SDPO Anu Kumari reached Rabri Devi’s residence with heavy police force. He talked to Rabri Devi inside for about 10 minutes, after which she left from there with her entourage. Actually, this government residence has been allotted by Bihar government to Minister Nandkishore Ram. The first notice was issued to Rabri Devi in November last year, but she has not yet vacated the house.

After this, the Building Construction Department issued a notice for the third time and directed them to vacate the house. The presence of police and administrative officials the very next day of the notice has further heated up the matter. Rabri Devi has already been allotted another government residence in Hardinge Road during her tenure as Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council. Despite this, she is not vacating her residence at 10 Circular Road. At present, the police has avoided strict action and adopted the path of talks, but the administration has made it clear that the house will be vacated as per the rules.

Challenge given to Samrat Chaudhary

Earlier on Saturday, Rabri Devi challenged Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary to forcefully throw her out of the government bungalow in which she has been living for more than a decade. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rabri served as the Chief Minister for eight years from 1997 to 2005, but she got angry when some journalists asked her about an order of the Building Construction Department. Under this order, the bungalow at 10, Circular Road in Patna was allotted to Dairy and Fisheries Minister Nand Kishore Ram. Rabri Devi is not ready to vacate the house.

What did Rabri Jelly say on vacating the house?

Rabri Devi told the media, “Yes, I can see that Samrat Chaudhary, who has recently become the Chief Minister, is very excited. Let him force me out. I am not going to vacate this place.” Rabri Devi was asked about this incident at Patna airport. She had returned from a short holiday in Delhi, where she celebrated her grandson’s birthday and from where her husband is said to have left for Singapore for medical treatment.
