
Under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government will organize Yamuna Bank Cleanliness Campaign-2026 on June 14 with the aim of returning the Yamuna River to its glory, cleaning the river banks and making citizens aware about environmental protection. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta herself will participate in this mega campaign and along with the citizens will strengthen the resolve for a clean and healthy Yamuna.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Said that Yamuna is not just a river but also the cultural, religious and environmental heritage of Delhi. It is the responsibility of the government as well as every citizen to protect Yamuna. This massive campaign is being organized to spread this thinking to the masses and promote collective participation.
He said that on June 14, cleanliness and public awareness activities will be conducted simultaneously at the major ghats of Yamuna riverfront. Thousands of volunteers along with about 500 social, religious, educational and voluntary organizations will also participate in the campaign. This program will prove to be an important initiative towards cleaning Yamuna through people power and public resolve.
My Yamuna, My Duty Campaign
The Chief Minister informed that last year also, Meri Yamuna, Mera Dutva campaign was launched to clean Yamuna and its ghats. Thousands of volunteers participated in this too and more than 12 tonnes of waste was collected and disposed of scientifically. The enthusiastic public support received by that campaign proved that if society and government work together, big changes are possible.
He said that this year’s campaign is being organized in a more comprehensive format. For this, all necessary arrangements related to security, traffic management, drinking water, first aid, emergency services and cleanliness are being ensured with the help of local administration, police, Delhi Municipal Corporation, Health Department and other concerned agencies.
Cleanliness of Yamuna is collective responsibility.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that cleanliness of Yamuna is not just a one-day campaign, but our collective responsibility. He called upon all citizens, social organizations, youth and volunteers to take active participation in this campaign and said that the dream of clean, pure and life-giving Yamuna can be realized only with public participation.
