Nomination papers were scrutinized on Tuesday for the elections to be held for two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand. During this, objection was lodged on the nomination of independent candidate Parimal Nathwani. It is being told that due to objection, a decision has been taken to put Parimal Nathwani’s nomination on hold for the time being.
On behalf of the Rajya Sabha Electoral Officer, Parimal Nathwani or his agent has been instructed to present his side by 11 am on Wednesday. During the scrutiny of nomination papers, nominations of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate Baijnath Ram and Congress Party candidate Pranav Jha were found valid. At the same time, an associate of Parimal Nathwani claims that the objection has been rejected by the returning officer, but the official decision of the returning officer is awaited.
Three objections regarding nomination
According to media reports, three objections have been raised regarding the nomination of Parimal Nathwani. The first issue is related to the name. At some places it appears as ‘Parimal Nathwani’, while at other places it is written as ‘Nathwani Parimal’. This is considered a minor mistake. The second objection is related to the omission of a column fixed by the Commission. The third objection relates to the need to strike out the section which asks whether the candidate has been convicted or jailed.
