
Nirjala Ekadashi 2026: Nirjala Ekadashi is considered very sacred in Sanatan Dharma scriptures. This fast is considered the most important among all Ekadashi fasts. The fast of Nirjala Ekadashi is observed every year on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month. This fast is also called Bhimseni Ekadashi. According to mythological belief, Pandu’s son Bhima had observed a fast on Nirjala Ekadashi. On the day of Nirjala Ekadashi, devotees of Lord Vishnu, the guardian of the world, observe fast without water.
There is a religious belief that by observing the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi and worshiping Lord Vishnu, the virtue of all Ekadashi fasts is attained. Due to the effect of fasting and the grace of Lord Vishnu, one attains happiness and prosperity in life. After death one gets a place in Vaikuntha Dham. However, this year there is some confusion in the minds of people regarding the date of Nirjala Ekadashi fast. The fast of Nirjala Ekadashi will be observed on 25th June this year. Nirjala Ekadashi date (Nirjala Ekadashi Fast 2026 Tithi)
- According to the Panchang, the Ekadashi tithi of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month will start on June 24, 2026 at 06:12 pm.
- This date will end on June 25, 2026 at 08:09 pm.
Based on Udaya Tithi, the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi will be observed on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The fast can be broken on June 26 between 05:25 am to 08:13 am.
Auspicious time of Nirjala Ekadashi (Nirjala Ekadashi 2026 Shubh Muhurat)
On the day of Nirjala Ekadashi, Brahma Muhurta will be from 04:05 am to 04:45 am. Abhijeet Muhurta will be from 11:56 am to 12:52 pm. Ravi Yoga will last from 05:25 in the morning to 04:29 in the evening.
Worship method of Nirjala Ekadashi (Nirjala Ekadashi Puja Method)
- On the day of Nirjala Ekadashi, wake up in the morning in Brahma Muhurta and take a pledge to fast and worship.
- After this, wear clean clothes and spread a yellow colored cloth on a platform.
- Place the idols of Vishnu and Lakshmi on it. Worship both of them together.
- Offer incense, lamp, fruits and yellow colored sweets or dishes to God.
- You can also offer it to God by adding basil leaves in kheer.
- Read the story of Nirjala Ekadashi fast.
- Sit and chant the mantras of Lord Vishnu.
- In the end, perform the aarti of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu.
