Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took a dig at BJP. He said that if his party is not allowed to protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi demanding the return of statehood, should he go to the White House and meet US President Trump? Addressing a big ‘Chalo Delhi’ rally in Jammu, CM Omar said that the National Conference will take its fight for statehood to Jammu and Kashmir to the national capital. He accused BJP that despite repeated assurances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party is considering this demand as a political issue.
“Today, thousands of our mothers, sisters and youth activists from different parts of Jammu have gathered here to raise their voice and send a message to the Center that there will be no waiting any longer,” Omar said.

‘Our patience is being considered as weakness’
CM Omar said, “Granting statehood is not a favor to the people of J&K, it was a promise made by the Prime Minister to the people.” Taking aim at the BJP, Omar said, “Our patience is being mistaken for weakness. After the BJP’s taunts and allegations, we have decided to take to the streets and achieve what we could not achieve through talks.”
‘Are you waiting to gain power?’
The CM said, “If there is no benefit in protesting outside Jantar Mantar and Parliament, then BJP should clearly tell where the demand for statehood should be raised.” He said, “Just an hour away from here, in Katra, the Vande Bharat train was flagged off and the Prime Minister gave a speech. Talking about restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, he said, ‘This is not a trivial promise. This is Modi’s promise.’
CM Omar questioned whether BJP is waiting to gain power here before restoring statehood to J&K? If yes, then they should hold a public meeting and tell the people openly.
