The wait for the new headquarters of Delhi government will end, new secretariat will be built in the twin towers on ITO

July 15, 2026 by Uma Shankar

A modern twin tower secretariat will soon be visible in the ITO area of the country’s capital Delhi. Delhi government has started the global tender process for the construction of the new secretariat, which is targeted to be completed by August. The estimated cost of this project is said to be more than Rs 2,000 crore.

Under the government plan, two towers of 30-30 storeys will be built on about 18 acres of land on either side of the development road. These two towers will be connected through a skywalk, which will make it easier for officers and employees to travel.

New complex will be built in place of old buildings

According to the Delhi government, for this project, a new secretariat complex will be built by removing the existing Vikas Bhawan, DUSIB headquarters and GST Bhawan complex in the ITO area. Apart from this, about 4.5 acres of land of Income Tax Department will also be included in this project. In return, about 10 lakh square feet of space will be provided to the Income Tax Department in the new towers.

Offices of all departments will be under one roof

According to the Delhi Government, the main objective of this new secretariat is to bring all the departments of the Delhi Government at one place. At present, Delhi government departments are running in different buildings, due to which the work takes time. With the construction of the new complex, the movement of files will speed up and administrative work will speed up. Through integrated secretariat, time will be saved and work will be expedited. A global tender has been issued for this, which is targeted to be completed in 1 month.

The project will be completed in 8-10 years

According to the government, the construction of this project will be completed in 8 to 10 years in two phases. It will take approximately 48 months to complete each phase. The construction work will be started as soon as the tender process is completed. After the completion of this ambitious project, Delhi will get a modern, integrated and hi-tech administrative center, which will play an important role in making the work more effective and faster.
