People say that in the movie Jhanvi More attention has been paid to her body and beauty than her role or her acting. Amidst this entire controversy, actress Nithya Menen, known for her excellent acting, has said a big thing.
In an interview given to ‘Variety India’, Nithya Menen said that presenting women as objects in films is not limited to South cinema only. Nowadays, this has become a big and common trend in the entire entertainment industry.
The reason is ‘hyper-commercialization’
The actress blamed the growing business of cinema i.e. ‘hyper-commercialization’ behind this. According to Nitya, these are the things that help in increasing the business of any film and can attract most of the audience to the theatre. Such tactics are adopted to make films successful, no matter how wrong they may be.
artists need to speak out
Emphasizing the responsibility of the artists, Nitya said, “Is all this happening too much? Absolutely yes! I think now the actors themselves will have to set their own limits. The artist who is shooting that scene should come forward himself and say that he is not comfortable with the scene like this. The artists need to pull their feet back.” He further said that sometimes artists feel helpless in such situations, but in reality it is not so. You can take a stand for yourself, provided your priorities are right.
Nitya further said, ‘There are many films and genres which I cannot do because I am against doing certain types of bold scenes. But I am absolutely fine with it because I do not want to compromise my principles for the sake of fame. If you just want to be a top star and are ready to do anything to reach there, then that is your own decision.
