
There is a lot of turmoil in the world at the global level. Relations remain tense in many places. There is a situation of tension in the Gulf due to the conflict between America and Iran. In such a situation, all the countries are busy strengthening relations with their respective partners and friends. Amidst global challenges, Russia and America are also trying to strengthen their friendship with India. In such a situation, a question was asked to Russian President Vladimir Putin whether he is uncomfortable with the friendship between India and America, to which he answered in his own style.
President Putin praised Moscow’s strategic partnership with New Delhi and asserted that Western efforts to force India to reduce its cooperation with Russia are futile and harmful to global stability. Putin praised India’s economic growth and its independent foreign policy in talks with heads of several major global news agencies, including news agency PTI.
He said that Russia is continuously determined to expand its economic relations with New Delhi. Putin said, “India is one of the leading economies of the world and today it is achieving impressive rates of economic growth.” He expressed confidence that bilateral trade between the two countries is poised to reach 100 billion US dollars in the next few years.
Putting pressure on India is harmful: President Putin
When President Putin was asked whether the deep ties between America and India create an uncomfortable situation for Russia, he said, “We are happy that India is developing relations with all those countries which it considers important for its national interests.” Putin also said that efforts were made to put pressure on Western countries regarding cooperation with Moscow.
Praising PM Modi, Putin said, “Everyone has understood that putting pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India is very harmful for international relations.” He said Russia considers India a reliable partner and Moscow does not see any negative consequences from New Delhi’s bilateral relations with any other country. He also said, “India is a great nation and democracy and Russia will continue to expand its relations with it.”
Result of tireless hard work of Modi government: Putin
Responding to a question by PTI CEO and Editor-in-Chief Vijay Joshi, President Putin said, “India is one of the leading economies of the world that has achieved the highest economic growth rate. This is not a sudden achievement. It is the result of tireless hard work done by the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
The Russian President underlined that New Delhi will continue to prioritize its national interests, and said India’s diplomatic engagement with the US does not hinder or weaken its age-old ties with Russia.
