During the recent demonstration of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) in the capital Delhi, one person remained in the headlines, whose name is Junaid Malik. Who had arranged food and drinks for the protesters. His work was greatly appreciated by the people. Now Junaid has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, in which he has accused of being harassed and detained by the police.
In his petition, Junaid Malik said that the police officers picked him up illegally from Delhi and kept him in a vehicle for 5-6 hours. He said that during this time he was threatened and intimidated. After this he was left at a remote place on Dehradun Road.
Accused of harassing family members
Along with this, Junaid also says that his family members were also tortured. He said that Ghaziabad police detained his father and raided his house. Along with this, the police also went to his married sister’s house in Meerut and took away his father-in-law and brother-in-law. Later all the family members were released.
Junaid’s appeal to the Supreme Court
Junaid Malik alleges that these coercive steps were taken without following any paperwork and legal procedure. He has appealed to the Supreme Court to stop the forceful action of the police against his family members. And if there is any investigation, it should be conducted completely as per the law.
‘Threatened and intimidated’
According to the petition, at midnight on July 24, Junaid Malik was returning from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML) after getting anti-rabies injection. Meanwhile, Delhi Police picked him up from the road. The police kept him sitting in a vehicle for about 5 to 6 hours. During this time he was threatened and intimidated.
‘Inquired about funding’
Malik says that the police forcibly took his mobile phone, unlocked it and examined it. During this, he was asked about funding, who funds him and where does the money for food arrangements come from. The petition said that after this the police left them at a deserted place on Dehradun Road. From there Junaid returned to Delhi in a cab.
This application has been filed in the writ petition of RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha, in which action has been demanded against police violence during the CJP Protest. This application has been filed through advocate-on-record Neha Rathi.
