Ultimately, Team India gave such a performance which proves that it is the current T20 World Champion. The plight of Team India in Ireland and England shocked every cricket fan and filled them with anger. The team also came under the scanner and some players in particular became the target of everyone’s criticism. But now Team India has made some compensation by winning the T20 series against Zimbabwe and the reason for this was two such batsmen who were everyone’s target – Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma.
The Indian team won both the opening matches of the T20 series against hosts Zimbabwe in Harare and thus clinched the 3-match series. The second match of the series was played on Saturday, July 25, in which Team India registered a big victory by 90 runs. In this match, Team India scored a tremendous score of 219 runs and in reaching this level, Ishaan and Tilak proved to be the most important, after which the bowlers bowled out Zimbabwe for just 129 runs.
In this match, despite a fast start, Team India lost 2 wickets for just 29 runs. At such a time, Ishan Sharma came to the crease and took the responsibility of taking the score forward. Instead of coming under pressure, Ishaan adopted the path of counter attack and attacked the Zimbabwe bowlers. Ultimately he was out after playing an excellent inning of 81 runs in just 44 balls, which included 9 fours and 2 sixes.
After Ishaan, Tilak Verma did similar work. Questions were constantly being raised on the presence of team vice-captain Tilak in Team India, but coming back at number five, Tilak scored 60 runs in just 29 balls. He stayed till the end, due to which the team was able to reach 219 runs. Tilak’s innings included 5 fours and 3 sixes. It was these innings of Ishaan and Tilak, which took Team India’s score out of reach of Zimbabwe.
This match and series proved to be important not only for the team but also for these two batsmen individually. Tilak did not get a chance to do anything special in the first match because the team had won by the time he came to the crease, but Ishaan played an important role in it. In the first match, after Abhishek Sharma was out in the third over, Ishaan came to the crease and during this time he very well supported Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was batting brilliantly. Even at that time, this wicketkeeper-batsman played an important inning of 35 runs in 24 balls and made a match-winning partnership of 46 runs with captain Iyer.
