Ram temple offering theft: Two IPS officers included in SIT, hearing in Supreme Court on Monday

The Uttar Pradesh government may submit the names of two IPS officers to the Supreme Court for inclusion in the SIT to investigate the theft of Ayodhya Ram temple offerings. IG Lucknow Range Kiran S, who is also included in the first SIT, can chair the committee. Ayodhya Range DIG Somen Burma and SP Ayodhya Gaurav Grover have been included as members in the second SIT formed to monitor the investigation.

Rest of the Supreme Court will decide who will remain or who will not remain in the SIT. The Uttar Pradesh government will present the order for formation of a new SIT in the Supreme Court on Monday.

There is a hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday in the case of theft of Ram temple offerings in Ayodhya. Earlier, on the instructions of the Supreme Court, the UP government will tell the names of up to two IPS officers for the SIT to the Supreme Court on Monday. Apart from Lucknow Range IG Kiran S, the SIT may send the names of DIG Ayodhya Somen Verma and SSP Ayodhya Gaurav Grover to the Supreme Court in the case of theft of offerings in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple.

These names will be placed before the court on Monday. After which the court will constitute a new SIT. Earlier in this SIT, Lucknow Division Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant and Special Secretary Finance Neil Ratan Kumar were there. Now two IPS officers have been included in place of these two.

SIT investigation process

SIT will investigate the theft of Ram temple offerings under the monitoring of the Supreme Court. A case was registered in Ayodhya on the basis of the recommendations made in the preliminary report of the first SIT formed on the demand of the temple trust. The police had arrested eight accused in the case and sent them to jail. The investigation of this case will now be under the supervision of the SIT consisting of three IPS officers.
