Indian team won the T20 series against Zimbabwe. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Team India finally tasted success and won the 3-match series 2-0 as soon as it started. Captain Iyer and the team definitely got some relief from this victory, but the pain and resentment of the plight that happened just a few days ago has not ended yet. This is the reason that despite the victory in Zimbabwe, the Board of Control for Cricket in India will review the performance of Team India. According to a report, this review meeting will be held in the first week of August.
In June and July, the Indian team went on a tour of Ireland and England. During this entire period, Team India played 2 T20 series and one ODI series. A total of 10 matches were played in these three series, in which Team India lost 8, while one match was canceled and could win only one ODI match. The worst situation happened in two consecutive ODI series against Ireland and England. After suffering a 0-2 upset at the hands of Ireland, Team India was also defeated by England 4-0.
Since then, there was a lot of criticism on the performance of Team India and there was a demand for action from BCCI. The board then talked about reviewing this performance. Now BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has told when this meeting will take place. In a Cricbuzz report, board secretary Saikia has been quoted as saying that the board will conduct this review in the early days of August. In this, not only Ireland and England but also the performance of Zimbabwe tour, in which the team won, will be analyzed.
However, it has already been claimed in some media reports that despite the defeat in these 3 series, the board will not take any action against captain or coach Gautam Gambhir. But it has been told in this report that the future of the coaching staff members can be decided in this meeting. The contracts of some members of head coach Gambhir’s support staff are expiring, a decision can be taken on extending or terminating them. It has already come to light in some reports that the journey of fielding coach T Dilip and assistant coach Ryan Tendeshkate with the team is coming to an end. Now whether this will happen or not will be known after the meeting.
