In the latest ICC rankings, Shubman Gill is at number 8 with 743 rating points. Due to his passing, Yashasvi Jaiswal has suffered a loss, who has now slipped one place from 8th to 9th. Gill and Yashasvi are the two Indian batsmen included in the ranking of top 10 Test batsmen.
Impact of century against Afghanistan on test ranking
In the first innings of the test match played against Afghanistan in Mullanpur, Shubman Gill had scored 126 runs on 177 balls. Whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings could not go beyond 24 runs.
