Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced Ph.D. in 36 different subjects for July 2026 session. Online applications have been invited for admission to the programs. This information was given by Dr. Dharam Pal, Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Center Karnal. Dr. Dharam Pal told that the online application process has started from June 10, 2026 and interested candidates can apply till July 1, 2026. Application can be made through the official website of the University and Ph.D. Admissions can be done online through the portal.

He told that university In total 36 subjects including Psychology, Anthropology, Political Science, Public Administration, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Geography, Geology, Life Sciences, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Computer Science, Education, Distance Education, Environmental Science, Fine Arts, Theater Arts, Music, Dance, Social Work, Management, Commerce, Nutrition Science, Child Development, Home Science, Vocational Education, Development Studies, Gender and Development Studies, Translation Studies, French, Arabic and Journalism and Mass Communication. Ph.D. is running the program.
On what basis is the selection being done?
Dr. Dharam Pal said that the admission process for the University Grants Commission (UGC) Ph.D. The minimum standards and procedure for awarding degrees will be done as per the Regulations, 2022. Candidates can apply through four categories: UGC-NET JRF, UGC-NET (eligible for Assistant Professor and Ph.D.), UGC-NET (eligible only for Ph.D.) and University Level Entrance Examination. Interview/viva-voce will be mandatory for all categories of candidates.
He further informed that IGNOU offers both full-time and part-time Ph.D. The program provides. Selected researchers will have to complete course work at IGNOU Headquarters in New Delhi, for which minimum 80 percent attendance is mandatory.

Dr. Dharam Pal told that the application fee has been fixed at Rs 2000. Detailed information regarding eligibility, subject wise seats, reservation policy, admission process and entrance examination syllabus is available on the university website.
