From India, Pakistan to China… which country is spending how much on nuclear weapons?

Countries like India, China, Pakistan and America are spending a lot of money on nuclear weapons. This has been revealed in the report of a non-profit organization. According to the report, nine countries of the world currently have nuclear weapons. In the year 2025, these countries spent a total of 119 billion dollars on the maintenance and modernization of nuclear weapons. During this period, countries like India and China developed new nuclear weapons Also developed. In the last one year, 20 new nuclear weapons have been added to China’s nuclear arsenal and 10 new nuclear weapons have been added to India’s arsenal.

According to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), India is spending $2.8 billion, Pakistan $1.5 billion, China $13.5 billion and America $69.2 billion on nuclear weapons. At the same time, North Korea is spending 656 million dollars on the maintenance and upkeep of nuclear weapons.

America increased spending the most

According to the report, America has increased its expenditure on nuclear weapons the most in one year. America has increased the budget for nuclear weapons by 22 percent. America spent the maximum of $69.2 billion in the year 2025. At the same time, Britain increased the expenditure on nuclear weapons by 17 percent.

Britain will spend a total of $12.6 billion on nuclear weapons in the year 2025. Similarly, China increased by 7 percent. China will spend $13.5 billion on nuclear weapons in 2025.

Russia increased by only 6 percent. Russia spent $9 billion on nuclear weapons this year. If we talk about South Asia, India increased by 12 percent and Pakistan by 18 percent. Israel increased it by 2 percent and France by 8 percent.

99 countries signed TPNW

The report further states that on one hand the powerful countries of the world are spending a lot of money on nuclear weapons. On the other hand, 99 countries of the world have signed the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). These countries say that it is necessary to eliminate the nuclear threat from the world.

How many nuclear weapons does which country have?

According to the Stockholm International Peace Institute (SIPRI), the world had 12,187 nuclear weapons in January 2026. Of these, approximately 9,745 were in military stores for potential use, while 4,012 were deployed with missiles and aircraft.

Russia has the maximum number of 5500 nuclear weapons. After this, America has about 5300 nuclear weapons. China is suspected to have 620 nuclear weapons. India has 190 nuclear weapons and Pakistan has 170 nuclear weapons.
