
FIFA World Cup 2026 Prize Money: FIFA World Cup 2026 is going to be the biggest and unique edition in history. This tournament will be played from 11 June 2026 to 19 July 2026. This is the first time that three countries are jointly hosting. This edition will be played in Canada, Mexico and America. There will be matches in a total of 16 cities, which includes 11 in America, 3 in Mexico and 2 in Canada. Whereas, the final match will be played on 19 July 2026 at New York-New Jersey Stadium.
What is special this time?
This time more countries are getting a chance to participate in the FIFA World Cup. The tournament which earlier had 32 teams has now become 48 teams. At the same time, the format has also been changed. Matches will be held in 12 groups. Apart from the top-2 teams from each group, the 8 best third-place teams will also reach the Round of 32. That means a total of 104 matches will be played this time, which is much more than the previous edition.
Record increase in prize money
FIFA has increased the prize money significantly this time. A total of 655 million US dollars (about 6300 crore Indian rupees) will be divided among 48 teams. Which is about 50% more than the previous edition.
Which team will get how much money?
- Champion Team: 50 million USD (about 481 crore Indian rupees)
- Runner-up: 33 million USD (about 317 crore Indian rupees)
- Third place: 29 million USD (about 279 crore Indian rupees)
- Fourth place: 27 million USD (about 259 crore Indian rupees)
- Teams from 5th to 8th: 19 million USD (approximately 182 crore Indian rupees)
- Teams from 9th to 16th: 15 million USD (approximately 144 crore Indian rupees)
- Teams ranked 17th to 32nd: 11 million USD (approximately 105 crore Indian rupees)
- 33rd to 48th place: 9 million USD (about 86 crore Indian rupees)
Additionally, each qualifying team will receive a separate USD 1.5 million for preparation expenses. That means every participating team is assured of a guaranteed amount of at least 10.5 million USD (approximately 101 crore Indian rupees).
