EPF interest not yet received? Check in minutes with these 3 methods

July 24, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has started depositing 8.25% interest in EPF accounts for the financial year 2025-26. Many members have also started receiving SMS regarding deposit of interest. If you have not received any message from EPFO yet, there is no need to panic. Interest is not credited to all accounts simultaneously, but in a phase-wise manner. Therefore, it may take some time for interest to appear in your account.

Instead of waiting for SMS, you can easily check whether the interest has been deposited in your PF account or not. For this, EPFO has provided many official facilities.

The work of depositing interest started from July 15.

EPFO has started depositing 8.25% interest in accounts for the financial year 2025-26 from July 15, 2026. This process is going on in different batches. So if the balance update is not visible right now, it will start appearing in your account after some time.

1. Check by viewing the passbook on EPFO portal.

The easiest way is to log in to the Unified Member Portal of EPFO.

  • Go to ‘Member Passbook’ section.
  • Log in by entering your UAN and password.
  • Here you will see complete information about opening and closing balance, employee and employer contribution, PF transfer and interest.
  • If interest has been deposited, it will be visible in the passbook.

2. Know PF balance by giving missed call

If your mobile number is registered with UAN, then you can get the PF balance information by giving a missed call from your registered mobile number on 011-22901406. For this, it is necessary that your Aadhaar, PAN and bank account are linked (seeded) with UAN. This service is completely free.

3. Check balance by sending SMS

You can also get information about your PF balance and last contribution by sending SMS to 7738299899.

Type message for this:

EPFOHO UAN ENG

If information is needed in another language, write the first three letters of that language in place of ENG. For example, write MAR for Marathi. Keep in mind that your UAN should be linked to Aadhaar, PAN and bank account.

Will there be loss if interest is received late?

No. Even if interest is deposited late in your account, you will not suffer any loss. According to paragraph 60 of the EPF Scheme, 1952, interest is calculated on the basis of running balance of every month, even if it is deposited in the account at the end of the financial year. That is, EPFO adds interest on the balance of every month and credits it in the account at the end of the year. Therefore, even if there is a delay in deposit of interest, the member gets full interest as per the declared rate.
