In the office, when a notification comes on the laptop that the manager has come online or has joined the meeting, the heartbeat of many people suddenly increases. Some people immediately open their chat boxes, while others start wondering whether they have made a mistake. Sometimes this nervousness increases so much that it becomes difficult to concentrate on work. But are managers really the cause of stress every time, or do we create stories in our minds that are completely different from reality? A video related to this has been shared by a person these days.
Content creator Avik Roy has shared an interesting video on this topic. He says that sometimes it is not the person who troubles us, but our own thoughts. He wrote along with the video that often the biggest pressure is not your manager, but the story you have created in your mind. This thinking puts us under unnecessary stress.

Avik also shares his experiences in the video. He says that earlier the same thing used to happen with him also. As soon as the online meeting started and the manager joined it, his entire mood changed. They feel that now messages will be coming continuously, a lot of questions will be asked and every small and big thing will have to be answered immediately. Because of this thinking, his entire attention would be diverted from his work to ensure that no mistake is made.
According to him, this fear gradually increased so much that he kept himself in alert mode all the time. As soon as any notification came, he felt that perhaps the manager might have asked something. If it took even a little time to answer, he would start feeling guilty. Later he realized that this pressure was not imposed by anyone else but by himself.
Avik says that to get out of this problem he first changed his thinking. He told himself that it was not necessary to reply to every message at the same moment. If you are busy with some work and are doing good quality work, then that should be your biggest priority. He understood that it is more important to do right and better work than to respond quickly. After all, the identity of employees in any company is determined by their work, not just by their online activity.
He says that when he accepted this, his stress reduced considerably. Now instead of getting nervous after seeing every notification, he focuses on completing his work first. This increased their productivity and also reduced mental pressure. Avik also told another easy but effective method. He says that if you are always waiting for the manager to ask for an update, then it is better to share the necessary information with him well in advance. For example, if there is a project underway, sending a small update from time to time can eliminate many misunderstandings. This also keeps the manager confident that the work is progressing in the right direction and there is no additional pressure on the employee.
He believes that many times we create such imaginations in our mind which have no connection with reality. We feel that managers are always looking for our mistakes, whereas often their only objective is to know the state of the work. When we start thinking negative things without any reason, the same things gradually start affecting our behavior and self-confidence.
