Delhi Police’s big action on paper leak…STF formed, know how it will work

Delhi Police has formed a Special Task Force (STF) to investigate NEET and other paper leak cases. This STF will investigate paper leaks and other examination-related crimes under the ‘Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024’. This step of Delhi Police will prevent paper leak cases.

This team will investigate paper leaks, cheating and other examination related crimes in examinations conducted by institutions like UPSC, SSC, RRB, IBPS and NTA. Besides, it will also coordinate with the concerned agencies to ensure speedy trial of these cases. STF will be responsible for prompt, professional and comprehensive investigation of crimes related to public examinations conducted by these authorities/institutions.

Which exams will be examined?

STF will investigate matters related to examinations conducted by major central recruitment agencies of the country. These include Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and National Testing Agency (NTA) as well as various ministries, departments of the Central Government and their recruiting units. Apart from this, examinations conducted by other institutions notified by the Central Government from time to time will also come under the jurisdiction of STF.

STF work will be monitored

Delhi Police’s PRO Additional CP Rajeev Ranjan said that the Special Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, will exercise overall monitoring and administrative control over the functioning of the STF. Besides, necessary instructions will be issued for effective investigation and prompt prosecution of cases.

DCP will lead the STF

He said that apart from investigation, the STF will ensure effective coordination with the prosecuting agencies to conduct the trial proceedings expeditiously, so that the trial in such cases can be conducted regularly. The Special Task Force will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.

Strict action will be taken in paper leak cases

According to Delhi Police officials, the purpose of this special unit is to investigate examination-related crimes quickly and effectively. One of its main objectives is to intensify strict action against organized gangs involved in paper leaks, cheating and cheating in recruitment examinations.
